If your dog has a coat that continually moults then you’ll need to book them in for a de-shedding treatment at the dog groomers. Loose hair can be removed and make your dog more comfortable and allow the air to move freely through your dogs coat. Dogs with these double coats shouldn’t be shaved ,unless your vet specifically suggests for it to be done on medical grounds. The reason for this is that it can ruin your dogs coat and affect its re-growth. It can also have the opposite effect from what you want to achieve ,which is to help your dog cool down. Removing all the dead hair will allow your dog to regulate its temperature correctly without the need for shaving. Coat funk can be a side effect of shaving this type of coat too so its highly discouraged. Please ask the advice of your groomer if you are unsure of how to care for your dogs coat. We are always happy to advise.
